Themed education events to support the curriculum.
We're committed to funding a variety of events that support the children's learning and which they would be unlikely to access without PTA funding. Recent events have included a drumming workshop, a production for all years by the Shakespeare Globe Players, a photographic skills workshop and a Victorian toy-making workshop. We've got Rio week coming up later in 2016 time to coincide with the Olympics and planned to complement learning across a number of subjects.
Life Bus
Complementing the school's personal, social and health education (PSHE), the PTA funds visits from the 'Life Bus' - a Life Education Awareness Programme for children from the ages of three years up to 11 years, educating them about the damaging effects of obesity, smoking, binge drinking and drug abuse, thereby helping them to make informed choices for a healthy future. This mobile based programme is proven to have a positive impact on young people's knowledge, attitudes and behaviour to unhealthy habits.
Philosophy 4 schools
Philosophy for Schools is all about encouraging young people to think, through the approach of Philosophy for Children. This has well-documented benefits across the whole curriculum. Children who engage in regular philosophical enquiry, for example, often do better generally. When it's done within subject areas however, it becomes a very powerful way to promote understanding.
Mathletics
Mathletics is an online Maths learning platform, helping students enjoy maths and improve their results. The App and website are hugely engaging, supportive and targeted to the various National Curricula of the U.K., from the Early Years Foundation Stage to KS5. The PTA are committed to part funding Mathletics every year with each pupil at the school given an account.
Early Years Foundation Stage Story Corners
We are funding story corners in our EYFS classrooms. Each classroom will be equipped with shelving, wall art, beanbags, rugs and seating. The bright, engaging and comfy areas will promote reading, relaxation and learning.
Outdoor learning resources
We regularly pledge funds to support and improve our fantastic outdoor space at the school. We have funded or part funded a variety of resources including raised beds for the children to grow their own fruit and vegetables, the annual bulb growing competition, willow arches, trees, mini-beast equipment and bird feeders.
Sporting equipment
We've funded or part funded a variety of sporting equipment including team bibs, hockey sticks, footballs and nets to name but a few!
